CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.

All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

The following are ten general physical skills we will help you develop through the classes offered at CFGSA:

CARDIOVASCULAR / RESPIRATORY ENDURANCE

The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.

STAMINA

The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.

STRENGTH

The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.

FLEXIBILITY

The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.

POWER

The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.

SPEED

The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.

AGILITY

The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.

BALANCE

The ability to control the placement of the body’s center of gravity in relation to its support base.

COORDINATION

The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.

ACCURACY

The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.
